Welcome to MC Mehta Environmental Foundation

MCMEF is a non-profit, non-governmental committed organization working nationwide for the protection of the environment, the rights of the people to clean and fresh water and air, the promotion of sustainable development, and the protection of the cultural heritage of India.

We believe that if, all of us unite and take proper care in protection and conservation of the limited natural resources, we can give our children a better tomorrow. It is possible only through community participation and awareness.

MCMEF has been actively involved in creating awareness among NGO's,Lawyers,Scientists,Senior Officials, Academicians,Students & Youth through training and capacity building programmes, seminars,workshops,declamation contests and other grass roots level activities.

Our Mission

• We pledge to create an interactive movement at the national level for environmental and social justice.

• To provide a forum for concerned citizens, NGOs and activists working for the survival of living beings, sustainable development and social change.

• To provide training to and sharpen the skills of young lawyers, scientists and activists in order to strengthen environmental law and policy.

Our aims and objectives

To create awareness, conduct research and training for the protection and promotion of public interest, environmental justice with a focus on India and other South Asian Countries.

To help victims of pollution and environmental degradation to seek and obtain social environmental justice.

To work actively for the protection of environment and cultural heritage of India. To work for the protection of Himalayas, rain forests, mangroves, coastal ecology, water, conservation of natural resources, health education, population control and food security.

To implement community oriented research and training programs in the area of public interest and sustainable development.

To set up an information, resource, cultural and environmental law and justice center.

The four-volume set published, with the hope that the Court’s wisdom will be a resource for and inspiration to those who are interested in environmental and human rights.

A unique compilation of the judgments and orders in 18 public interest cases.
